NEUROTICS ANONYMOUS:
A Message of Hope
If you are one of the many millions of people suffering from the Nation's number
one public health problem, mental and emotional illness. there is help for you
even though everything else you have tried may have failed to bring you relief.
We speak from personal experience. We have suffered severe mental and
emotional illness for years - depression, anxiety, loneliness, fear, and other
torturous emotions, Many of us have had years of psychiatry, medical treatment
and religious instructions; have taken thousands of tranquilizers,
anti-depressants, sleeping pills, and other drugs; have been in and out of
hospitals; have attempted suicide - and we have found a way out of the illness.
We would like to give this way out of the illness to you so that you, too, can find
the full, rich, happy, rewarding life that we have found.
The way out of the illness, the way to get well and stay well, is the Neurotics
Anonymous Recovery Program, and we are living proof that it works for those
who want to work it. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN A PERSON FAIL WHO HAS DONE HIS
BEST TO FOLLOW THIS PROGRAM.
THE NEUROTICS ANONYMOUS PROGRAM
Neurotics Anonymous is a group of people who are banded together to solve
their emotional problems by following the Alcoholics Anonymous Recovery
Program as adapted for NA. Neurotics Anonymous exist for the single purpose of
helping mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals to recover from their
illness and to maintain their recovery.
The Neurotics Anonymous Program consists of "Twelve Suggested Steps" for
individual recovery; "Twelve Traditions" for guidance of individuals, groups, and
NA as a whole; meetings, telephone conversations, and talk between members
and between and those seeking help.
There are no dues or fees for NA membership or NA help. Recovered individuals
help those who are still suffering. Everyone is welcome at open meetings of
Neurotics Anonymous - everyone with emotional problems is welcome at closed
ones.
WHAT NA MEANS BY "NEUROTICS"
NA does not use the word "neurotic" in its scientific sense. For the purposes of
Neurotics Anonymous a "neurotic" is defined as "any person whose emotions
interfere with his functioning in any way and to any degree whatsoever as
recognized by him."
HOW NA IS SUPPORTED
Neurotics Anonymous is supported entirely by voluntary contributions of
members and guests at meetings. sale of its literature, and contributions of NA
groups. All money received is used for furthering NA work. Outside contributions
will be declined.
A BRIEF REVIEW OF HOW NEUROTICS ANONYMOUS BEGAN
Soon after Grover recovered through the Alcoholics Anonymous Program and
found a rich, full, happy life, he discovered that the AA Program would work
applied directly to neurosis - that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BECOME ALCOHOLIC TO
GET HELP.
Very soon, Grover got a chance to test his theory. He worked with a
non-alcoholic, severely emotionally disturbed woman who got the Program and
got well. She was NA number one. Grover then started Neurotics Anonymous.
THE GROWTH OF N.A.
We are happy and grateful for the rapid growth and expansion of Neurotics
Anonymous. There are NA groups in many parts of the United States and in
some foreign countries. New groups are forming frequently.
Neurotics Anonymous has been approved by many psychiatrists, doctors,
psychologists, clergymen, and other professionals. Many of these professionals.
Many of these professionals refer patients to NA and some are, themselves,
members of NA.
New people have learned of this recovery program through extensive television,
radio, newspaper, and magazine coverage.

You are always welcome at Neurotics Anonymous.
